Vehicle runs into hay bales

Vehicle runs into hay bales on Route 74

A motorist and passenger on Route 74 in Shoreham had to wonder if they were still on the road if they had someone found their way into a rancher's field about 6 p.m. Monday.
The driver called police to say he had hit something. When Vermont State Police troopers arrived, they found the motorist had hit part of five or six large round hay bales that had apparently fallen off a trailer, broken and were scattered about the roadway.
The incident happened on the bridge on Route 74 in Shoreham at the Cornwall town line.
While their vehicle was immobilized at the scene of the hay crash, several cars drove past without stopping to help.
The Shoreham Fire Department, first responders and Middlebury Rescue all arrived on scene.
